GPS Systems 365 - Theft Threat
From GPS Systems 365, Delmar Allen says his GPS system was stolen from his automobile in NE Philly in the wee hours of the morning. This highlights a growing trend of thieves targeting GPS systems."I had a portable navigation system. What made it so bad; I took it off the window. Didn't lock. I took it out of sight, out of mind," said Delmar.
Law enforcement thinks a sixty-two percent increase in auto break-ins can be solely attributed to GPS thefts. Last week, the cops charged nineteen-year-old William Weiss with thirteen auto break-ins near the Franklin Mills Mall between 02/08 & 03/08.
"He just broke into your car, damaged the window, which is going cost you 100 bucks to replace. He took a $500 item. He's probably going to get 25 to 50 for it at the corner bar," said Capt. Jack McGinnis.
